CBI is an agency of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since its establishment in 1971, CBI has operated within the policy framework set by the Minister for Development Cooperation. Its main objective is to contribute to the economic independence of selected developing countries by helping enterprises (SMEs) and trade promotion organizations (TPOs) to develop their export capabilities and promote their exports of non-traditional goods and services to the European Union (EU).
